Hello!
We’re a small, family run bar & bistro on the high street in Tarvin, about 5 miles outside of Chester. We’re set inside a beautiful old grocery shop, which is grade II listed, and have been here for almost nine years. Our menu is made up of things we love to eat, and is a mix of seasonal dishes & bistro staples, with more options available on our frequently changing specials boards. Our instagram is a good place to keep updated with our specials (@cornichonfood.)
Please use the below link to book a table online. If the date you’re after isn’t available, give us a call, as we’ll always do our best to find space:

Answers to FAQs
The maximum table size we’re able to accommodate usually is 12 people. Maximum table size in the main restaurant is 8, with tables of 8 to 12 upstairs. Occasionally (on a weekday lunchtime for instance) we’re able to increase this number, so do drop us an email on info@cornichonrestaurant.co.uk just in case!
Dogs are welcome in the bar area & upstairs but availability is limited. If you aren’t able to book an ‘upstairs table’ on our booking system, please call us if you’re wanting to bring a dog to dine with you; as this may not always be possible.
We do have a small bar which you are more than welcome to pop into for a drink, even if not eating. Our bar does tend to close when the restaurant closes, so it isn’t a late night venue. There is a pub next-door and over the road; so you’re not short of watering holes. If you find our bar is full on arrival, there is also a lovely craft beer bar over the road called Indie Hops – they have an incredible selection of beer & some lovely gin too.
If you’re booked in and wanting a drink first, please arrive early enough to allow yourself enough time. If the bar is full on arrival; we may be able to sit you down early; or alternatively, pop over to Indie Hops!
We can cater for certain allergies, but please make us aware of any allergies when booking in order for us to be suitably prepared. We also ask that you remind us about your allergies at every stage of ordering.
We make our sourdough bread, burger buns & breakfast baps in house, but we do keep gluten free bread in stock too. Our sourdough is naturally leavened and just contains 3 ingredients; water, flour & salt. Our buns & baps contain those ingredients plus butter, eggs, milk & yeast – but we do make vegan versions of these.
We do our best to use local produce. Our milk is from Peckforton Farm dairy, who not only produce great quality milk, they deliver it to us in reusable glass bottles. Our clotted cream is from Henry at Clotton Creamery. Our meat is from Wally Dutton’s in Kelsall (we did a very thorough taste test when choosing the sausages for our breakfast menu, and Wally’s won hands down.) Our asparagus is grown in Delamere. The wholemeal flour used in our house sourdough is grown & milled at Walk Mill. Most of our beer comes from Wild Horse in Llandudno and from Weetwood, just down the road, who also supply us with some lovely gin.
There is a step at the front door, but we have step free access via the fire door in the main restaurant, which we are always happy to open.
We have free wifi, and of a morning/weekday lunchtime you’re more than welcome to sit in the restaurant with your laptop. The only thing we’re lacking is charging points.
Every Wednesday night, our takeaway menu is available with 20% off, collections between 5pm & 8ish. Call us to order on 01829741391.
